W.C. Dobbs Endowed Lecture
The W.C. Dobbs Endowed Lectureship was established in 1995 by Dr. W.C. Dobbs of Mobile, Alabama, a retired professor of Christian ethics at Mobile College of Mobile, Alabama.

"Christian Ethics and Architectural Design: Building a World Based on Justice"
Elise Edwards, PhD, is a Maryland native who began her academic career at Baylor University in 2013, serving as an assistant professor of religion. Edwards earned her PhD in Religion from Claremont Graduate University, focusing on theology, ethics, and culture. Additionally, Edwards has a Master of Architecture degree and a Bachelor of Science from Florida A&M University, along with a Master of Theological Studies from the John Leland Center for Theological Studies.
Edwards' research is interdisciplinary, spanning theology, ethics, architectural theory, and aesthetics to explore issues of civic engagement and public expressions of Christian beliefs and commitments. In the classroom, she is dedicated to helping her students appreciate the diversity of perspectives within Christian thought and enhancing their critical thinking and writing skills. Edwards also contributes to the local and broader academic communities through leadership roles in Creative Waco, the American Academy of Religion, the Society of Christian Ethics, and her local Baptist church.
