The W.C. Dobbs Endowed Lectureship was established in 1995 by Dr. W.C. Dobbs of Mobile, Alabama, a retired professor of Christian ethics at Mobile College of Mobile, Alabama.

About Deirdre N. Fulton:
Deirdre Fulton is associate professor of Hebrew Bible/Old Testament and director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Religion of Baylor University. She joined the Department of Religion in the fall semester 2013. Her area of research focuses on the Persian Period, specifically the books of Chronicles, Ezra, and Nehemiah. Fulton is also interested in zooarchaeological-related research, connecting text and artifact. She is involved in several ongoing excavations in Israel, including the Leon Levy Ashkelon Excavations, Tel Shimron Excavations, and also the Jezreel Valley Regional Project. Her interest in archaeology helps inform questions related to diet, sacrifice, and economy.
She is currently co-editing the Oxford Handbook of The Persian period in the Bible and completing a book combining her interest in text and archaeology on the Tobiads with Oxford University Press.
Deirdre is a member of the steering committees for Hebrew Bible History and Archaeology and Chronicles, Ezra, and Nehemiah for the Society of Biblical Literature. She is also a member of the Catholic Biblical Association, the National Association of Baptist Professors of Religion, and the European Association of Biblical Studies.
