How can I lead well in sports without sacrificing my Christian commitments or my desire to win? What does the Bible really say and teach about competition? How should I approach complex topics in sports like race, mental health, and identity?
If you’ve wrestled with these questions (and more!), you’re not alone. The FSI Online Certificate Program is a non-credit professional development and continuing education program designed to help you process and explore critical issues from an informed Christian perspective. You’ll get to learn and grow alongside a team of experts, experienced educators, and fellow sports-minded Christians. By taking multiple classes, you can also work towards earning a Certificate in Sports Culture and Leadership.

What Our Students Say
"I never anticipated being back in the classroom setting. Not only am I a coach, but I work in a school, I’m a mom of three, I’m a wife, and so thinking about going back into a classroom felt unimaginable. But this opportunity with the certificate program to be online and have flexibility with the modules while still having that community connection with people all across the world has really ignited a sweet love for learning."
—Jessika Caldwell, BA '04, Head Girls Basketball Coach & Chaplain Coordinator, Valor Christian High School
Program Highlights
Accessible: Course material is delivered in an online format with facilitation from experienced educators. Anyone over the age of 18 can enroll, and courses cost just $250.
Flexible: Courses include 20 total “contact hours” of learning engagement, typically delivered over the span of eight weeks—that’s 2-3 hours per week. With no required meeting times, students are able to work around their busy schedules as they complete the weekly activities.
Leadership Development: Following the “leaders are learners” mantra, students receive meaningful feedback from an instructor on all assignments. The focus is not on consuming more information but on personal formation, with ideas always connected to lived reality and practice.
Cultural Literacy: Courses are developed by an interdisciplinary team of sports practitioners and academic experts. Students will be challenged to grow in their faith as they approach complex issues in the sports world from a thoughtful and informed Christian perspective.
Theological Training: Students will develop a contextually relevant theological model for engaging in sports. They will be able to see and experience sports as one part of the comprehensive story of God’s work in the world.
