2023 Year in Review
As 2023 comes to a close, Truett Seminary is reflecting upon and relishing a monumental season of growth and progress. The 2023 Year in Review highlights a number of milestones for the Seminary this past year, even as our school is looking forward to the year(s) to come!
Five Key Developments for Truett in 2023:
- In the fall of 2023, Truett welcomed one of the largest entering classes in the Seminary’s history with 105 new students. This included 86 new Masters students, 12 Doctor of Ministry students, and three new PhD in Preaching students. With 392 students enrolled overall, Truett enjoyed its largest enrollment since the fall of 2010 and is striving to achieve a record enrollment in 2024, which will mark the 30th anniversary of Truett Seminary.
- When Truett in Houston opened its doors in 2018, classes were offered at Tallowood Baptist Church, which graciously provided space for an upstart initiative. In 2023, the Lanier Theological Library and Learning Center generously donated space for our extension campus in Houston, providing a permanent home with classrooms, offices, and common areas for the 39 students currently enrolled with ample room to grow.
- For the past three years, the Wesley House of Studies has provided an opportunity for Wesleyan/Methodist students to receive a theological education at Truett Seminary. The Wesley House is now flourishing with 72 students enrolled and a newly formed alternative educational pathway for Wesleyan/Methodist students seeking ordination in the Global Methodist Church.
- Truett’s Office of Ministry Connections is dedicated to assisting Truett graduates to find meaningful ministerial and vocational placement as they complete their degrees. In 2023, Truett achieved a commendable 94% placement rate. Please continue to send us students and to hire our graduates, for whom we are grateful and prayerful.
- As the Give Light campaign nears an end, Truett Seminary is pleased to report that it has surpassed its campaign goal of $50 million by over $37 million! Much of the money raised by and for Truett during this campaign has been for endowed student scholarships and professorships. How wonderful it would be if we could double our goal before the campaign concludes in May 2024!
