Steven Turley, PhD
Director of Truett Seminary in Houston
Dr. Steven Turley, PhD serves as director of Truett Seminary in Houston. In this role, Dr. Turley is entrusted with the oversight of the campus including recruiting, supporting, and resourcing students, fostering collaborative connections with local ministers and community leaders, and serving as a bridge between Southeast Texas and the Seminary's main campus in Waco.
Dr. Turley previously taught History at Truett Seminary, Fuller Seminary, Houston Graduate School of Theology, and Rice University, while also serving graduate students and faculty at Rice through InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. Prior to his doctoral work, Turley served as Pastor of Iglesia Bautista Emanuel in Nogales, AZ, and has since served churches in several lay ministry roles.
Dr. Turley received a BA in economics from Stanford University, an MDiv from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and a PhD in European and Latin American history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
He is married to Dr. Ruth López Turley, and they have two sons, Alejandro Daniel and Gabriel David.
