The Bridges to Belonging project is equipping congregations across Central Texas to more fully welcome youth and young adults (ages 13–25) facing disabilities, mental health challenges, and chronic illnesses. In its first year, the project has begun sparking dialogue and fostering new relationships among local churches, all aimed at making congregations more accessible, inclusive, and truly representative of the body of Christ.
The Program for the Future Church (PFFC) at Truett Seminary is building pathways for congregations and Christian leaders to step into the future through three programmatic areas: convening, contextual research, and curriculum.
Over the last three years, the PFFC has regularly and purposefully gathered pastors and teams of ministry leaders through 32 convenings that have engaged more than 500 individuals and cultivated meaningful connections with 30 congregations and organizations that resource congregations.

Growing up in a generation where discussions of science and faith were often at odds with one another, I often felt tension as a public high school biology teacher. However, the longer I taught high school biology and the intricacies of the cellular processes, DNA, genetics, and ecology, the more I was filled with awe and wonder. I could not compartmentalize my love of teaching biology from my belief in God the Creator who paid attention to the marvelous detail of the DNA molecule to the vibrant coloring of a butterfly. As I transitioned from a teacher to student once again, the Theology, Ecology, and Food Justice (TEFJ) program at George W. Truett Theological Seminary has offered me a framework and language for theology and science to no longer be at odds with one another.

Waco, Texas (October 2, 2024) – Baylor University’s George W. Truett Theological Seminary is pleased to announce the launch of the Master of Arts (MA) in Theology and Healthcare beginning in the summer of 2025. Baylor University’s George W. Truett Theological Seminary has reached and is celebrating a significant milestone. In its 30th year, the school has recorded a record-breaking enrollment for the fall semester. According to official statistics from Baylor’s Office of Institutional Research, Truett Seminary enrolled 409 students this term, a 4% increase over last year’s fall enrollment of 392.

Amid the changing landscape of ministry and congregational life, the Program for the Future Church (PFFC) at Baylor University’s Truett Seminary exists to bring together theologians, churches, and community leaders to create time and space for listening and imagining to create resources to support the future of the Church. Sam Davidson, a Truett Seminary alumnus and current adjunct faculty member, recently shared about doctoral work and ongoing academic pursuits. Eric Moffett is a graduating student of the Doctor of Ministry (DMin) program at Baylor's Truett Seminary. He has had the joy of serving as a pastor for the last seventeen years in Arkansas and recently (in January of 2023) answered a call to serve at Coryell Community Church in Gatesville, Texas, where he serves as lead pastor and his wife, Sherrill serves as the connections pastor. DALLAS and WACO, Texas – Leaders from the Baptist General Convention of Texas (BGCT) and Baylor University have jointly reviewed the relationship agreement between the two organizations and deemed no changes are necessary. The special agreement, initially agreed upon on November 4, 2011, calls for a joint review by the BGCT and Baylor every 10 years. The most recent review was delayed two years as both organizations managed through the COVID-19 pandemic.

On November 5, 2021, the Baylor University Board of Regents announced the approval of three new degree programs at George W. Truett Theological Seminary: the Master of Arts in Theology and Sports Studies, the Master of Arts in Contextual Witness and Innovation, and the Master of Arts in Theology, Ecology, and Food Justice.
On Friday, November 5, 2022, the Baylor University Board of Regents approved and announced a significant decrease in tuition for master's-level degree programs at George W. Truett Theological Seminary and extended this reduced rate to all seminary doctoral programs. Thus, the "sticker price" of a Truett education for the 2022-2023 academic year has decreased from a projected $1,071 per credit hour to $690 per credit hour.
Baylor University and George W. Truett Theological Seminary are mourning the death of Rev. William “Billy” J. Abraham, D.Phil., inaugural Director of Truett’s Wesley House of Studies, who passed away Thursday, October 7. Baylor University’s George W. Truett Theological Seminary is pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin M. Watson, PhD, as Affiliate Research Professor. Watson, who recently joined the ministerial staff of First Methodist Waco as Pastor of Discipleship, will conduct his ongoing research and writing in collaboration with the Seminary’s newly formed Wesley House of Studies. The Baylor Collaborative on Hunger and Poverty (BCHP) will welcome David Beasley, executive director of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), to its Forum on Global Hunger Sept. 10 at Baylor University’s George W. Truett Theological Seminary. The WFP received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2020 for their work combatting hunger and preventing the use of famine as a weapon of war in the most dangerous regions of the world.
