Study Spots Around Campus

As the fall semester approaches its midpoint, many students flock to the comfort of coffee shops, libraries, or their own homes to diligently prepare for midterm exams and papers. While the work is unavoidable, the monotony of books and screens can be overwhelming and draining. Often, a change of setting can combat feelings of burnout and stress. As Truett Seminary sits on the edge of Baylor University's campus, students are afforded a diversity of enjoyable spaces to study and prepare.

Armstrong Browning Library

A classic space, the Armstrong Browning Library's elegant atmosphere, and sprawling tables make the room a premier choice. The area is well-lit and cozy with warm wood accents and stained glass windows. Students who enjoy studying among the luxuries of traditional architecture will find this quiet spot delightful.

The Garden of Contentment, Outside Armstrong Browning

East of the library, the Garden of Contentment is nestled across the street from Waco Hall. The space provides students with the chance to study among nature's greenery. The Garden of Contentment boasts fountain views and large, developed trees. The outdoor lighting even makes the space accessible in the evening for night owl students.

The Moody Garden Level

Moody Library offers multiple study zones, each designed for various types of students and noise levels. While the library's inside spaces are equipped with individual study spaces, noise-canceling pods, and silent study zones at its upper levels, the Garden Level exhibits dynamic seating, shaded tables, and various native plants. The Garden Level's inner corridor is also home to Moody Library's IT helpdesk for those needing assistance.

The Graduate Research Center

Near the Poage Legislative Library, the Graduate Research Center (GRC), housed on Moody Library's second floor, offers sprawling windows of treetop views. The space is reserved for graduate students who will need an active BearID to enter. Additionally, the GRC has reserved private study rooms.

The Truett Courtyard

For students looking to study in between classes, Truett's internal courtyard is an easy choice. While students may find the occasionally playful squirrel amid the space's large trees, the courtyard offers a removed and tranquil seclusion from the larger Baylor campus. With Paul W. Powell Chapel's steeple in eyesight and bells in earshot, students who study here will always be on time for class.

Hurd Welcome Center

A new addition to Baylor's campus, the Hurd Welcome Center allows students to study in an innovative and modern atmosphere while appreciating That Good Old Baylor Line. The space's marble flooring and dynamic seating feel cozy yet sleek. Additionally, the area houses a Varsity Coffee and Soda and the Baylor Spirit Shop if students want a pick-me-up amid their studies.

Barfield Drawing Room

Located inside the Student Union Building, Barfield Drawing Room is a larger space for students who like to spread out when studying. Decorated with some of Baylor's more ornate furnishings, Barfield Drawing Room and surrounding areas are perfect for students seeking an elevated study experience. The space is also home to Baylor's Dr Pepper Hour, so students will want to avoid studying here on Tuesdays from 3:00 - 4:00 pm.

Common Grounds Coffee and Heritage Ice Cream, Near Campus

Common Grounds Coffee is within walking distance from campus and offers indoor and outdoor seating spaces for students who like to study amid the smell of coffee. Right next door, Heritage Ice Cream is excellent for students looking for a sweet reward for all their hard work studying.

Fountain Mall

Students who enjoy a more lively climate or people-watching will find Fountain Mall a suitable option. Home to a large water feature, the outdoor space is the heart of campus and perfect for students wanting to feel connected to student life. The area is furnished with tables, chairs, and outdoor plugs.
