Thoughts from the First Week of School

August 29, 2025

From New Student Orientation to Convocation, Truett Seminary’s fall 2025 semester is underway as we approach the end of the first week of the new school year. This season marks a new chapter as we welcome new faculty and staff and numerous new students while also reconnecting with those already with us. It is a very exciting time.

As we progress into the school year, some of our new students reflect on what their first week at Truett has been like.

Kendall Petteway

"Being at Truett truly feels like home. I felt the strong presence of God in both the students and the faculty, and this excites me for the remainder of the semester! I am beyond excited to be here."

– Kendall Petteway, MDiv student

Isla Henderon

“The beginning of the semester is always exciting, bringing with it the promise of new friends, fresh challenges, and copious opportunities to learn! I am really looking forward to growing in knowledge of the Christian faith within the wonderful community of scholars and students that we have at Truett Seminary. It is a blessing and a privilege!”

– Isla Henderson, MTS student

Ed Wells

"When walking to Truett for my first day of my first year in the MDiv program, there were many things that I thought I might find overwhelming. After two classes and coffee with new friends, I found myself walking home with an overwhelming sense of belonging and community that assures me that I am in the place that God has called me to be. I am eager to get to work and look forward to a formative semester."

– Ed Wells, MBA student

We wish these new students and the rest of the students of Truett Seminary well on their new journey as they study and step into their callings.
