As those called into ministry seek to discern next steps, one of the most significant decisions they can make is where to seek theological education. You want a place where your faith will be nurtured, your mind will be stretched, and your calling will be affirmed. At George W. Truett Theological Seminary, we believe that theological education is most impactful when it is deeply rooted in Christian community, led by accomplished teachers and scholars, and intentionally connected to the Church.

Since 1994, Truett Seminary’s mission has been to equip God-called people for gospel ministry in and alongside Christ Church by the power of the Holy Spirit. Through rigorous academic training, intentional spiritual formation, and access to a network of ministry partners, Truett is designed to offer a holistic approach to equipping pastors and ministry leaders.

So why choose Truett Seminary? Take a look at what sets Truett Seminary apart.

Relational Learning in Three Locations

Truett Seminary believes in-person theological education that fosters authentic community and deep relationships with an emphasis on shared spiritual growth. With its main campus in Waco, Truett is also able to support master's and doctoral degrees at its growing extension campuses in Houston and San Antonio. At each location, students are met by supportive learning environments with faculty, staff, and fellow students who are ready to support and encourage you at every step as you pursue your calling and theological training.

Truett’s focus on in-person learning provides space for meaningful conversations, collaborative learning, and life-on-life discipleship. Students, faculty, and staff worship together, study together, and serve together—building relationships that last well beyond your time in Truett classrooms.

Embedded at Baylor University

Truett is uniquely positioned as one of the 12 schools and colleges of Baylor University, a nationally recognized, Christian Research 1 (R1) university. Being embedded at Baylor means our students are a part of a strong academic community with access to a vibrant spiritual life, comprehensive student support services, and a variety of free Big 12 athletic, artistic, and scholarly events.

Additionally, this connection offers opportunity to access:

- Joint degree programs with Baylor schools, including Business, Education, Law, Music, and Social Work.

- Extensive resources, including access to Baylor’s libraries, writing support, state-of-the-art research facilities, and more.

- Student wellness departments, including campus recreation, care team services, a counseling center, and health services, each of which is designed to meet the physical and emotional needs of students across campus.

- Opportunities to engage with Baylor’s undergraduates through Chapel leadership, Chaplain position in residence halls and academic units, and sports ministry positions.

Multi-denominational, Evangelical, and Rooted in the Baptist Tradition

Truett Seminary is orthodox, evangelical, and historically Baptist, yet Truett is intentionally multi-denominational. Our students come from a wide range of Church traditions and theological perspectives, creating a rich environment for learning and growth.

The faculty and staff at Truett seek to equip students to serve wherever God calls them—whether local churches, nonprofit ministries, chaplaincy, counseling, global missions, or academic settings.

Faculty Dedicated to Scholarship and Service

Truett Seminary is home to distinguished scholars in theological education who pair academic excellence with extensive ministry experience. Nearly all of Truett’s faculty have served or currently serve in local churches, which means they understand the realities of serving in ministry in an ever-evolving world. This offers a unique perspective in the classroom, where they combine academic excellence and practical wisdom to prepare students for real-life ministry contexts.

Preparing for a Lifetime of Ministry

At Truett, we see our mission as more than preparing students for graduation–we are committed to walking with you through your ministry journey from helping you to discern your calling, to providing academic guidance and spiritual formation, to connecting you with ministry opportunities and networks as you graduate, and to walking alongside you as alumni by offering events, resources, and pastoral care.

So, if you or someone you know is seeking a Seminary where their faith and calling will be sharpened and where they can find a community that will challenge and support them, we invite you to come visit us at Truett Seminary. Whether you are preparing to serve as a pastor in a local church, lead in a non-profit ministry setting, or serve as a chaplain, Truett Seminary is here to walk alongside you and equip you for a lifetime of ministry.
