Truett Seminary Announces Plans for Additional Location in Dallas
WACO, Texas (August 3, 2026) – Baylor University’s George W. Truett Theological Seminary announced today its intention to open an additional location in Dallas, Texas at Park Cities Baptist Church beginning in the fall of 2027. With its main campus located in Waco, Truett currently has additional locations in Houston at the Lanier Theological Library and Learning Center and in San Antonio at Trinity Baptist Church. As with Truett Houston and Truett San Antonio, Truett Dallas is planning to offer Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Christian Ministry, and Master of Theological Studies degrees in their entirety through seminar-style, in-person instruction. Doctor of Ministry cohorts are also anticipated at Truett Dallas.
In relation to and as an outgrowth of Baylor’s current strategic plan, Baylor in Deeds, the Truett Seminary community has been engaged in thoroughgoing conversations and prayerful discernment to determine if such expansion was a next faithful step for the school to take. As a part of this extensive, collaborative process, Truett also engaged Polymath Innovations to conduct a feasibility study and A.E. Sloan Leadership to facilitate genuine dialog among various stakeholders.
Regarding this significant development, Truett Dean Todd D. Still, PhD, remarked, “One way we have sought to make a Truett-quality education increasingly accessible and affordable is to join hands with supportive congregations in our state’s major urban centers. To be able to partner in this new endeavor with our old friends at the historic, strategic Park Cities Baptist Church, along with other anchor churches in Dallas and throughout the Metroplex, is a joyful, hopeful development for us and, we trust, for the students and constituents we will serve.”
“Upon coming to Dallas,” Dean Still noted, “Truett will have an additional location at every point of the ‘Texas Triangle,’ with our main campus conveniently located in Waco on the I-35 corridor. Baylor’s motto Pro Ecclesia. Pro Texana. Pro Mundo. continues to guide and undergird our mission of equipping God-called men and women for gospel ministry in and alongside Christ’s Church by the power of the Holy Spirit. The Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex is currently the fourth largest metropolitan area in the United States and is adding over 100,000 people to the region each year. With the addition of a Dallas location, Truett will be able to equip ministry leaders there to grow and serve where they live and work.”
As Truett prepares to launch an additional location in Dallas, the seminary will be working with its accreditors to gain necessary approvals; meeting with partners and prospective students; and seeking to hire an inaugural director for Truett Dallas.
