Truett Seminary Names New Director of Development

October 9, 2026
Jacob Rohrer

WACO, Texas (October 9, 2026) – Baylor University’s George W. Truett Theological Seminary is pleased to announce that Jacob Rohrer has been named director of development for Truett Seminary, serving within the Division of Advancement. Rohrer, who currently serves as assistant director of development for the Seminary, will assume his new role effective October 12, 2026.

“When Jacob Rohrer joined our development team as an assistant director two-plus years ago, we were not seeking to put a succession plan in place,” said Todd D. Still, dean of Truett Seminary. “During the interview process for Truett’s next director of development, however, it became clear that the person who was best qualified for and most capable of this strategic role was none other than Mr. Rohrer himself. Jacob is a thoughtful, skillful, judicious, and gracious development professional, who is also a winsome and warm Christ-follower. I have enjoyed working with him in recent days and am eager to partner with Jacob and university advancement to advance the mission of Baylor’s Truett Seminary, which will require the pursuit and achievement of lofty development goals.”

With more than a decade of experience in Christian higher education, Rohrer brings a strong record of leadership in advancement, enrollment, retention, strategic planning, and presidential initiatives. Since joining Baylor in 2023, Rohrer has served as assistant director of leadership annual giving and, most recently, has played a key role in major-gift fundraising, donor engagement, and advancing Truett Seminary’s fundraising priorities. His deep understanding of Baylor’s mission, coupled with his collaborative work with Seminary leadership, positions him well for this role.

Prior to joining Baylor, Rohrer served as assistant to the president for special projects at Howard Payne University and held advancement and enrollment leadership positions at Dallas Baptist University. He holds a BBA, MBA, and MA in Leadership from Dallas Baptist University and is currently pursuing a PhD in Leadership Studies with a concentration in Higher Education.

“Serving Baylor’s George W. Truett Theological Seminary over the past two years has been an immense privilege, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to continue serving Baylor and Truett in this new capacity,” said Rohrer. “The work being done at Truett matters deeply to the life of the Church. The Seminary’s ecumenical, orthodox, and evangelical approach to theological education resonates with my own calling and convictions. My time at Truett has also given me a deep appreciation for the pastors, alumni, donors, and friends whose commitment to the Seminary and its students makes so much of this work possible. I am eager to continue serving alongside our Seminary leadership, faculty and staff, and colleagues throughout University Advancement in support of our students in Waco, Houston, San Antonio, and soon Dallas.”
