About Dr. Jo

Dr. Jo is a student of the Christian tradition, especially of Augustine, whom he reads as both a theologian and a pastor. That pairing shapes his own work: he is convinced that theology is done in and for the Church. His path to Truett ran from Seoul to Gordon-Conwell to Baylor, and after completing his PhD he has served since 2011 as lead pastor of Korean Church of Waco, a bilingual congregation. He brings that pastoral experience into the classroom, where he joined the Truett faculty in 2024. He and his wife, Hwasun, have two grown children and a Border Collie named Danji. In his spare time, he enjoys woodworking.
