About Dr. Parsley
Larry Parsley is a clinical professor of Christian Ministry and is the new director of Truett’s Mentoring program. He joined the faculty in the summer of 2023 after serving as senior pastor of Valley Ranch Baptist in Coppell (a suburb of Dallas) for over 23 years. He is a contributor and speaker for Mockingbird Ministries, an organization devoted to connecting the Christian faith with the realities of everyday life and writes for Christianity Today’s Preaching Today.
Dr. Parsley’s doctoral work is in Christian ethics and his dissertation explored the relevance of character for preaching. He is passionate about helping pastors find re-enchantment in their holy callings. His research interests include the intersection of preaching and literature, with special attention to short stories.
Dr. Parsley and his wife, Jaletta Wells Parsley, PsyD, have four children and two granddaughters. He enjoys baseball, Baylor sports, coffee, used bookstores, walking, and Dad jokes.
