Matthew Aughtry

  • Acting Director of the Anglican Episcopal House of Studies

Matthew Aughtry serves as the Acting Director of the Anglican/Episcopal House at Truett Seminary. Matthew is a priest in The Anglican Church in North America and resident within The Diocese of Churches for the Sake of Others and has helped lead church planting efforts for the ACNA for over a decade in both Los Angeles and Waco. Matthew has been at Baylor since 2017, primarily serving Baylor Spiritual Life as a chaplain to students, staff, and faculty engaged in the arts.

Matthew is also a filmmaker and serves as an adjunct professor within Baylor’s Film and Digital Media Department. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Film Studies/Media Arts from the University of South Carolina, a Certificate in Screenwriting from the University of California in Los Angeles, and a Master of Arts from Baylor University in Film and Digital Media. He also holds a Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary, where he is recognized as a Brehm Scholar for Theology and the Arts and where he returned in 2023 to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy in Theology and Culture.
