Stephen Stookey, PhD
- Director of the Baptist World Alliance Program
Stephen Stookey serves as Director of the Baptist World Alliance Program at Truett Seminary. The BWA Program seeks to deepen Baptist identity, strengthen leadership development, advance education, and cultivate global collaboration across the worldwide Baptist family. Before coming to Truett, Stephen served with Texas Baptists as Director of Institutional Engagement and Theological Education. His previous academic service includes Dean of the School of Christian Studies at Wayland Baptist University and appointments at Dallas Baptist University, B.H. Carroll Theological Seminary, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Stephen holds a BA in Religion from Baylor University and both the MDIV and PhD (Church History) from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX.
Stephen and his wife, Beverly, reside in Fort Worth, Texas. Stephen is an award-winning professional photographer, capturing visual stories from locations of natural beauty, historical importance, and spiritual significance.
